About Us

The Mixx is a pop-rock band that puts a unique spin on traditional pop and rock tunes. The band brings arrangements and a fresh perspective not heard in other venues today.

The band has a passion for creating fun and unique arrangements of classic tunes that everyone can relate to. The mix of the two provides a familiar feel but is different from the typical dance band.

The Mixx is made up of top musicians that have been playing the circuit for many years. The band's talent and musical selections make them a great fit for many venues from small clubs to rockin' the bigger stages and everything in between.

Tony Diecidue - Drums

Tony Diecidue Tony has been playing drums since he was 10 years old. He’s toured this country and Canada in bands that ranged from jazz to rock to disco to country to even Elvis impersonators. He was in one of the top local rock bands in Wash. D.C. in the 80’s and played in the hottest clubs in Georgetown, Alexandria and Baltimore. Tony had the honor to perform along with jazz greats Dave Liebman and Tony Marino at the St. Luke's Summer Festival in Stroudsburg on numerous occasions. He has appeared with Rob Paparozzi of Blood Sweat and Tears and Blues Brothers fame. Tony has also donated his talent to the Starving Musicians charity CDs and the Eye Rock events at the Hard Rock in NYC. Most recently Tony hosted a jazz-jam locally with guitar great Spencer Reed and acclaimed bassist Tony Marino. To hear and see more of Tony, visit any of these pages:

Don Mayer - Guitar

Don Mayer Don Mayer-Don has been doing live performances for more than thirty years. An extraordinary live performer in many styles including blues, rock, jazz, and country. Don is known as the Tone Master for his ability to achieve exceptional tone through his proficient knowledge of his instrument and equipment. Audiences everywhere are inspired and awed by his talent and musicality. Don has studied with many jazz greats such as Pat Martino and Harry Leahy. He has also performed with such recording artists as Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Jerry Vale, Cesar Diaz, Vic Juris, and Dave Liebman. Don has recently worked with the Mary Hawkins band and Rock Roots, and educational program teaching the history of Rock ‘n’ Roll to schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. In 2004, Don Mayer and Mary Hawkins were selected by the Lehigh Valley Blues Network to represent them at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. The received great marks and got thru to the third round. Most recently, the Don Mayer Band and Trio appeared at the Stockton Blues Festival with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Jim Wieder of The Band, and the Queen of the New York City Blues vocalist Roxy Perry.

Nick Lilak - Guitar/vocals

Nick Lilak Nick Lilak-Lead vocals and guitar: At age twelve, Nick started performing with his older brother, Roger (currently The Mix bass player). During this time the Lilak brothers developed unique vocal harmonies and began sharing their enthusiasm for live performance. Nick quickly developed a passion for pop/rock music as a singing drummer performing regularly in the Traverse City area of northern Michigan. In the late 70s, Nick traveled with the popular “Shades of Grey”, performing nightly at top dance clubs throughout the mid-west. In the 80s, Nick relocated to Denver and performed as the drummer for a local cover band, the Match. Nick has performed with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recording artist, Bo Diddly, and many artists who should be more celebrated. Until his recent move to Florida, Nick was the guitarist for the Sweetwater band in central Illinois. During the last 10 summers, Nick has returned to northern Michigan and performed regularly with his brother in the Full Circle, a rock/pop/country band that Nick and current guitarist, John Slough, created in 1969. Nick has also enjoyed successful careers as an active duty Army officer and later as a director with the Department of Homeland Security/TSA in Illinois. Today, Nick and his wife, Theresa, maintain homes in Venice and northern Michigan.

Roger Lilak - Bass

Roger Lilak Roger Lilak-lead vocals/bass/wind synthesizer. Roger is one of northern Michigan’s pioneer rock musicians, having organized and performed with local bands since the late 60s. Roger continued performing with his brother, Nick, throughout central Michigan before pursuing a career in education in the late 70s. Since then, Roger has performed nearly all popular musical genres, including classical, with specific focus on pop, rock, and jazz. Although his primary performance instrument is bass guitar, Roger also performs on guitar and a Yamaha digital wind controller (simulating live wind instruments). Roger also has written and performed for community and school musicals, variety shows, and varied musical events in many distant areas of the globe. As a former international educator, Roger lived in Chile, Ecuador, Indonesia, Italy, and Dubai. His overseas educational experience exposed him to a wide variety of musical genres and instrumentation. Since 2008, Roger has been the bass player each summer season with his brother for the Full Circle’s performances in northern Michigan. Roger and his wife, Julie Urban, travel often and also maintain homes in the Petoskey area of northern Michigan.
